STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY.

We all have roles in life we play. Some more visible than others but vital in their own unique way. We need others in order to be stable and perform at the optimum. A building cannot be stable without a skeleton framework beneath it just like the body cannot be supported without its bony skeleton. Within the skeleton, the points of movement called joints are held together by ligaments just like the points of intersection are held by bolts, screws or nails in a building. Their roles both not easily visible  but vital non the less.

If a screw or several screws get loose at the point of intersection, the building will have issues in stability. If there is laxity in the ligaments around the joints, you will experience discomfort in movement. All of these have adverse effects which are visible in function.

Never despise the role you have to play whether big or small. You have a vital role to play. You may assume that because you are not at the forefront and are behind the scenes your role may be less important. But, it is that supportive role that contributes towards your success  and the success of others.

THE PARADIGM SHIFT.

In some of the past blog posts I have written about purpose. I hope this article will inspire anyone to look at some issues in a more positive way. I want to talk about frustration. What does frustration mean to you? What makes you volatile? What tests the limits of your tolerance? What stretches your patience thin? All of us have something(s) that irritate us or make us angry and yes, it is part of life. The persistent thorn in the flesh that constantly nags and causes discomfort has the tendency to make one frustrated. Many times we wish away those frustrations not knowing that the same frustration may be a valuable gift that has come wrapped in a strange way. Your frustration is a problem that has not yet been solved but needs a solution. This may prompt you to look for ways to solve the problem in order to have peace of mind in that area. Frustration can inspire innovation. With innovation comes problem solving and the curving out of a niche because you were able to see what others did not see. All this birthed by frustration.

Frustration is an indication that you care about something otherwise one would not spend time thinking about it and waste energy looking for answers and possible solutions. The next time you are faced with something that ticks you off or irritates you, it could be an amazing gift wrapped under the cover of frustration which is unconventional and unexpected. When you judge something superficially without taking time to unwrap it and discover the contents, you can miss out on an amazing opportunity. In order to be able to appreciate the value of what lies under frustration, there has to be a paradigm shift in thought processes from focussing on the negativity that is caused by the frustration to exploring the possibilities that can come out from your frustration.

Brilliant things can be birthed out of frustration.

Have a fantastic week.

DISORDERED GROWTH.

The destiny of a cell is encrypted in its dna, the blueprint of life. When alterations occur in the dna it can change the course of the cell. Persistent insulting agents can facilitate or cause the alteration causing damage and replication of the change. This in turn leads to more cells with the damaged dna being produced because regulatory mechanisims of the body failed to get rid of the damaged cells. It so happens that if many of those abnormal cells multiply fast they form a conglomeration of abnormal cells which have the potential to spread. These abnormal cells more often than not cause an array of symptoms that may vary depending on the site present but these abnormalities are detected by the body which enables one to recognize the deviation from the usual status of health described as normal by the individual affected. In view of the abnormality detected, the treatment offered helps to reduce the symptoms primarily by targetting the abnormal cells. The main issue is to reduce the quantity of abnormal cells present by killing them or sugically removing them. The net effect is to shrink and eradicate. But the effectiveness of the treatment is dependent on the degree of spread and damage done by the abnormal cells, the compliance to treatment and response to treatment.

Of course these abnormal cells will not just stay still and allow their destruction without a fight. They may develop resistance through some mutation in order to survive through the  toxic conditions of the treatment given in order to increase their chances of survival. This constant tug -of -war for survival and supremecy leads to a fierce battle that requires patience, endurance  and faith. The indicators of improvement are the reduction of the primary symptoms that lead to its detection. When one starts seeing progression towards nomalcy, they can rejoice because restoration to normalcy is within reach. In order to win the battle multiple therapy is advised to wage war against the life threatening enemy at all fronts, to leave no stone unturned and eventually turn out victorious.

But with the attack, collateral damage is bound to occur. The treatment targets cells that multiply fast which is characteristic of tumor cells that have the tendancy to spread to other areas within the body. Because hair cells and even cells within the bone marrow multiply fast, they become casualties of the treatment.

But, if treatment begins later when the disease has progressed, chances of survival would be poor.

The question is, what are you letting get out of control in your life?

THE SEQUENCE OF CONSEQUENCE.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes there is a tendency to want to enjoy rewards without considering the consequences? We are given free will to choose between good and bad with the consequences  and /or rewards made known clearly to all. Yet, despite this knowledge, complaints arise when one reaps the fruit of their actions. Is it right to blame another for the result of their decision yet full knowlege was made known to them before the decision was made?

God is pure love. He is the true expression of love. He lays before us two choices: accept or reject Him. If you accept Him you will gain eternal life and will face hardships in your walk with Christ   (reward and consequence). If you reject Him, you can’t enjoy the reward associated with acceptance. He gives us the freedom to choose. Yet one may ask ‘If God is loving, how can He send someone to hell?’. The question is ‘Is it right to blame God for a personal decision made? Is it right to blame Him for giving us the freedom to choose? If you reject Him, He still tries to reach out to you through different ways (His word, through other people)  in order to avert the consequences associated with rejecting Him. Is it fair?’

As long as one is alive they have the choice before them. To accept or reject Him.

THE POWER OF INTERVENTION.

Interventions are only necessary when a problem has been identified. They are used as a preventive measure in order to avoid the progression towards the foreseen devastating effects. In addition, they can turn the situation around for the better.  However, in order for interventions to have the desired effect they have to be:

  1. Objective. Objectivity requires adequate analysis of the situation at hand in order to come up with the appropriate solution. Application of the wrong intervention to the problem identified can either be ineffective or worsen the situation.
  2. Timely. Having the solution but not applying it in time has the potential to do more harm than good or be redundant.
  3. Executed to completion. Applying the right solution at the right time to completion will lead to success in attaining the desired effect. However, not seeing the plan through will not only be ineffective but can potentially deter progress.

In problem solving the key that is needed to unlock the solution is intervention. Without the right key, you are unlikely to unlock the door which results in frustration, stagnation or devastation.

Remember: objectivity, timeliness and complete excecution = TRANSFORMATIVE CHANGE.

The power of intervention is evident in the effects seen after its application. If applied correctly it can be transformative.

UNCONVENTIONAL BEAUTY.

We are surrounded by beauty everyday. For instance, the sunrise or the sunset, a starry cloudless sky at night, birds chirping away sweetly. Yet despite the obvious beauty around us, there are times when we overlook certain things oblivious of the beauty that is present but may not be obvious.

A sculptor can see a masterpiece in an amorphous large rock waiting to be seen by others. Through all the ruggedness and the shapeless form, the sculptor is able to uncover the masterpiece they envisioned slowly, steadily and surely. With each stroke  applied skillfully on the rock , the vision starts coming to life. With each stroke, the excesses are removed and the value of the rock increases. Isn’t it amazing that through loss there is gain? Gain in value of the once rough and shapeless form. Eventually, the masterpiece is unveilled and becomes clear to everyone.

Criticism helps in chipping off the excesses. It is what guides the artist towards bringing the vision to life. If they take off too little, their vision will not come to life in its entirerity. But, if they take off too much, they take away from the beauty of the vision and reduce the value. Criticism is a double edged sword that can be used to build or to destroy. Criticism helps to remove excesses in character that may be taking away from the vision God has for our lives. With God as the sculptor, He takes away excesses such as pride that may take away value from the masterpiece which is your life.  However, too much criticism from someone can take away from the confidence and result in low self esteem. It is interesting just thinking how by taking away something you are actually building it up. It is some sort of paradox in a way. Constructive criticism helps to build one by removing the excesses identified where as negative criticism is an excess in itself that damages the object being handled.

The tendency is to see the cynicism in criticism not knowing that constructive criticism can add value by removing the rugged edges and bringing the vision to life. There is beauty in constructive criticism.

SO CONTROVERSIAL?

Emotions are powerful, they have the capacity to move one to action. Emotions are unstable, fleeting and can blind one’s thought processes to the glaring reality of issues. Emotions are not only the spark that ignites controversy, they also fuel it thereby enabling the embers of the flame to grow larger and wilder and spread a great span. Controversy arises when emotions take precedence over facts. Emotions attached to action leads to the spanning of a complex web around one causing entanglement and rendering one helpless, at the mercy of the prevailing controvertial circumstances brewed by uncontrolled emotions. Beneath all the murk and the mess is the solution found in the facts. Often times, a neutral party is appointed to mediate between the parties that have the discrepancies causing the conflict. To provide the necessary solution, examination of the right facts is required without any emotions being attached to them. Facts are stable, unwavering, consistent. Their examination fosters clarity and objectivity in arriving at the best possible solution. In order to arrive at the facts, one must dig through the mess created by emotions and arrive at them. The facts put sand over the raging embers of controversy, stifling it of air required for continued combustion therefore putting a stop to the confusion, the conflict and confrontation that comes packaged with controversy.

So where does the controversy lie? It lies in uncontrolled emotions. When emotions trample over facts you make a toxic cocktail called controversy which affects everyone who partakes of it. The right facts matter and should guide in decision making.

THE FAMOUS ‘T’.

The biggest investment one can ever make is in themselves first and then in others. The more we learn, the more effort and time we put into the investment, the more we are empowered to empower others. The more we go deeper, get grounded and anchored the more stable we become. With this stability comes the ability to reach out to others. This denotes an element of growth both vertically and laterally. It is like a large tree, with its roots spanning deep and wide beneath the surface of the soil and its glorious leafy branches spanning great lengths, capable of providing shelter from the rain and support to a bird’s nest. But for the tree to be of use to those in need, it must be anchored sufficiently in the ground before branching out. Stability is essential for horizontal expansion.

Personal investment results in increase in depth perception on issues with the outcome being personal growth which ineffect generates opportunities for reaching out to others and eventually increases the scope of influence.

Even as Easter approaches remember that going deeper and reaching out in love will lead to maximum impact.

Lessons from the famous ‘T’.

Enjoy your easter.

BEYOND YOUR EYE’S VIEW.

20161227_125733

The horizon, the illusionary point where sky meets the earth seems to shift with every step foward. Yet, despite the shift, there is something restrictive implied by this creating suspense on what could lie beyond this point. It is undeniably true that perspectives change in life as we transition through different phases. Yet, there is always something that we look towards beyond what is within our field of view, beyond our reach. Yes, the horizon will always be there but it keeps shifting even with progress implying that there may be need to look beyond what we can see.

It takes strength to move beyond the limitations of your view. It takes courage and sufficient curiosity to step into the ‘unknown’. It takes a lot of trust to move to a point you have not assessed in advance. To sum it up, it takes faith to step into the unknown. Even in life we may realise that God may intentionally let us view His intended purpose in bits and sometimes He will require us to trust Him to guide us even beyond our limitated perspectives based on the limitations present in our view. That requires faith.

IN PURPOSE, ON PURPOSE.

Have you ever been in a situation you do not understand what is going on? You pray for things to change but instead things do not change and in some instances they get worse? You may be tempted to  think that your prayers have not been answered and sometimes end up feeling frustrated or getting angry because you do not realise that the prayers have been answered but not in the way you wanted. When you see this happen, maybe you should ask yourself whether perhaps you may be in the centre of God’s will at that time during the period of discomfort.

God is guiding our footsteps everyday. Where you are today, is not an accident to God. He is positioning you for your purpose. He could be using the discomfort to develop character necessary for His intended purpose. God could be positioning you for life changing encounters, life altering experiences that could push you further into His intended purpose for your life.

Whenever something looks like its taking forever to change despite praying, think twice. Perhaps you are wishing away the very thing that could catapult you into your destiny. It could be that God has positioned you IN PURPOSE ON PURPOSE.
